Employment at U.S. airlines fell 0.8 percent in July, compared with a year earlier, according to data from the Transportation Department’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
Network, low-cost and regional carriers employed a total of 411,100 full-time staffers in July, down from 414,600 in July 2007. Major airlines such as United, Frontier and Delta have cut employees.
American Airlines had the most workers among major network carriers, and Southwest Airlines had the most employees among low-cost airlines.
