Earl’s Restaurants Ltd. has agreed to pay $499,566 in back minimum wages to 234 employees following a Fair Labor Standards Act investigation by the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division.

The investigation, which covered Earl’s two metro Denver locations and one in Scottsdale, Ariz., found that the company required tipped employees to share 3 percent of their tips with managers and cooks, contrary to federal law. In Colorado, 173 workers will receive a total of $385,198.
