A woman was killed and another injured in a head-on crash early this morning on U.S. 285.
The crash happened at about 1:20 a.m. near South Wadsworth Boulevard in Jefferson County, said Trooper Gilbert Mares of the Colorado State Patrol.
Mares said a silver 2000 Mitsubishi sedan was heading south in the northbound lanes of the highway when it hit a white 2006 Toyota SUV.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, identified by the State Patrol as Kelsey J. Hays, 24 of Morrison, died at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Wynne A. Warren, 53, of Buena Vista, was taken to Swedish Medical Center with moderate injuries, Mares said.
The drivers were the only people in the vehicles.The crash is under investigation.
State Patrol investigators are trying establish the whereabouts of Hays prior to the crash, Mares said.
