Mimi Roberson became the new chairwoman of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday at the organization’s annual meeting.
Roberson, president and chief executive of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, urged the audience to help defeat four labor- backed ballot initiatives Nov. 4.
The initiatives “will set the economy back years, decades,” she said, referring to amendments that would force employers to provide health insurance, hold executives criminally liable for corporate wrongdoing, change workers’ compensation and make it tougher to fire employees.
In addition to election issues, the chamber will focus on transportation, education, economic development and health care in the coming year.
Kate Paul, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Colorado, was honored with the Del Hock Lifetime Achievement Award for service to the chamber.
