BOND, Colo.—A new owner plans to build a restaurant, bar and 1,000-seat outdoor amphitheater at the site of a historic lodge that was destroyed by arson last year.
The 117-year-old State Bridge Lodge near Bond, on the Colorado River about 90 miles west of Denver, burned down June 2, 2007. Investigators say the fire may have been an attempt to cover up a burglary. No arrests have been made.
Golden Roads LLC of Castle Rock says it hopes to have the rebuilt facilities operating by next spring or summer. Ted Tilton of Golden Roads says the amphitheater would likely host jam bands like those booked at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver or the Boulder Theater.
The old lodge had a stage but no amphitheater.
