MORRISON, Colo.—A bobcat cub is undergoing surgery after being rescued along a busy state highway.
The bobcat’s sibling was killed after being hit along C470 near Morrison on Tuesday morning. The surviving bobcat was found near the other’s body.
Police and animal control officers took the 7-month-old survivor to a Littleton veterinary hospital to be checked out. Veterinarians say the bobcat suffered broken thigh bones in both hind legs.
The 10- to 15-pound animal will recover at the hospital, then be transferred tomorrow to a wild animal rehabilitation center in Larkspur.
Officials plan to eventually release the cub back into the wild.
