FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Colorado State University says it has enrolled a record 4,404 freshmen this fall, just above the previous record of 4,392 freshmen that CSU said it had signed up a year ago.
Total enrollment is now 25,011, up slightly from 24,983 last fall.
Jim Rawlins, executive director of admissions at CSU, says it’s the school’s long-term goal to increase freshmen class sizes.
CSU says it has added 87 faculty positions over the past four budget cycles, and it is adding residence halls to deal with growth.
The university says minority enrollment is up to 3,214 students, or 12.9 percent of the student body.
About one in four incoming freshmen is a first-generation college student.
