BOULDER, Colo.—President Bush has nominated the chancellor of the University of Colorado’s Boulder campus for the National Science Board, which advises the president and Congress on science and engineering policy.
Bud Peterson’s nomination is awaiting confirmation by the Senate. Peterson says he won’t comment until after that vote.
Peterson has been chancellor since July 2006. Before that, he was provost at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
He also served as an associate vice chancellor at the Texas A&M University system and was head of the school’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Peterson is one of seven people nominated by Bush for a six-year term.
