DENVER—A man who law enforcement authorities consider a fugitive from Weld County has been caught in Mexico, and is due in a California courtroom Friday.
Authorities in Playa del Carmen, Mexico arrested 51-year-old Mark John Strodtman on Tuesday. He was flown late Wednesday to Los Angeles, where FBI agents arrested him on a warrant for racketeering out of Weld County.
A grand jury indicted Strodtman in March on 23 counts, including pattern of racketeering, 11 counts of forgery and 11 counts of theft of $15,000 or more.
Weld County sheriff’s officials say Strodtman will either fight extradition, or waive it, at a court hearing Friday.
More than 20 homeowners have accused Strodtman and his associates of tricking them into buying homes out of their price range.
