FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Wide receiver Troy Brown retired Thursday after 15 seasons with the Patriots in which he set a team record for most receptions (557).
Brown, drafted in the eighth round in 1993 out of Marshall, trails only Stanley Morgan in team history in receiving yards (10,352-6,366).
Brown played in one Pro Bowl, after the 2001 season, and also played defensive back late in his career.
“I can’t think of anything better in life to do than to enjoy a Sunday afternoon playing football,” Brown said, “and now I enjoy those Sunday afternoons watching football and still saying in my head, ‘I can make that play.’ ” But at 37, Brown, who hasn’t played this season, conceded: “You can’t outrun Father Time.”
