LARAMIE — Wyoming coach Joe Glenn is taking a zero-tolerance approach to turnovers, which have resulted in two blowout losses in Mountain West Conference play through the first four games.

In losses to Air Force and No. 11 Brigham Young by a combined score of 67-3, Wyoming committed 11 turnovers. BYU scored two defensive touchdowns in its 44-0 win last week.

Glenn said this week that if sophomore starter Dax Crum makes a bad mistake Saturday against Bowling Green, he will sit and backup Karsten Sween will play. If Sween makes a mistake, the next guy will play.

“We’re not talking about perfection,” Glenn said after Wednesday’s practice. “We’re talking about the critical errors that are costing us games.”

There were plenty of errors in Wednesday’s practice from the entire offense. At one point, first-year offensive coordinator Bob Cole tossed his practice script in the air in frustration.

Cole said he isn’t worried about a situation in which Wyoming (2-2) ends up rotating quarterbacks because of mistakes.

“They’ve all had ample time to perform in a game,” he said.

Sween, who started 18 games the past two seasons, has played in three series in two games this year.

“For me, it seems like more of an opening,” Sween said. “The only thing that’s really changed (this week) is it’s put a little more pressure on our shoulders. If Dax messes up and I go in, I know that all I have to do is one bad pitch or a bad read and the next guy is in.”
