A man faces homicide charges after an autopsy revealed that a 4-year-old Widefield girl had severe internal injuries including a lacerated liver, authorities say.
Tristan Dedre Price, 23, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend’s daughter, Tamyrill Randall, said Lori Sevene, spokeswoman for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
El Paso County sheriff’s deputies were called to Price’s home Friday morning. Tamyrill was pronounced dead by 11:30 a.m., Sevene said.
Sevene said that based on the autopsy report, the severe internal injuries the girl received were clearly the result of abuse.
“It’s tragic,” Sevene said. “The injuries she received are severe and unnatural. A lacerated liver is not a common injury. It’s something you would expect in a car crash.”
On Friday morning, Price told authorities that he was unable to wake the girl. When he was unable to revive her, he called 911, Sevene said.
Price also was charged with misdemeanor assault in connection with an incident that happened April 15, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records.
Sevene said a previous allegation of abuse involving the girl was investigated thoroughly by sheriff’s investigators but did not result in charges.
