FORT MORGAN, Colo.—The former public works director of Log Lane Village has pleaded not guilty to charges of running up more than $68,000 in personal purchases and cash advances on a town debit card.
John Graff is charged with embezzlement, theft, unauthorized use of a financial device and evidence tampering.
Log Lane Village, a town 1,000, is five miles east of Fort Morgan.
Graff had plead guilty in January to one count each of embezzlement and illegal use of a financial device as part of a plea deal, but prosecutors withdrew the agreement when Graff was unable to come up with restitution.
Graff entered his new plea on Monday. His case has been moved to Washington County after his lawyer questioned whether he could get a fair trial in Morgan County.
