A day after members of the Communications Workers of America rejected a contract offer from Qwest, officials from both sides met Wednesday to lay out plans for additional talks and a contract extension.
The CWA represents 20,000 workers in 13 states who have already approved a strike, although both sides — whose previous contract expired Tuesday — said a walkout is unlikely for now.
Union officials hoped to narrow by late Wednesday the key reasons why workers rejected Qwest’s offer.
