Brett Hull was at the Pepsi Center Wednesday night in his job as co-general manager of the Dallas Stars. Next week, when he returns to Denver, it will be in a different role, as one of four retired players who will be inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame at a dinner Oct. 10 at the University of Denver’s Magness Arena.

“It’s quite an honor to be inducted into any Hall of Fame, but to go in with these three others well, that’s hard to put into words,” Hull said.

Hull isn’t at a loss for words very often. He will be inducted along with goalie Mike Richter and defenseman Brian Leetch, long-time teammates with the New York Rangers; and women’s hockey pioneer Cammi Granato, the younger sister of Avalanche coach Tony Granato.

“Having that kind of honor bestowed on you kind of makes you look back and think about the things you did and how you played and what you achieved,” said Hull, whose 741 career goals place him in the No. 3 spot on the all-time NHL list.

The 7 p.m. dinner is not sold out, but tickets must be purchased in advance. Information is available at or by calling the USA Hockey office in Colorado Springs, at 719-538-1184.
