GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—A plan to add a base village at the Sunlight Mountain ski resort near Glenwood Springs is moving forward.
The Garfield County Planning Commission late Wednesday approved a zoning change for the village and set another hearing on the plan next month.
The village as proposed would include 830 residential units and 110,000 square feet of commercial space. Revenue generated by the new development would be used to pay for ski-related improvements such as snowmaking and chairlifts.
Two years ago, Exquisite Development of Florida agreed to buy Sunlight if it received the county’s permission to build the base village.
