Rick Rush will become a member of the Jefferson County Board of Education, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Vince Chowdhury.
Rush, a parent of two who has served on several of the district’s advisory committees, was unanimously voted into the position during the board’s meeting Thursday.
Chowdhury resigned earlier this year. The board had requested he step down after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault for slapping his teenage daughter.
Rush will be sworn in Oct. 16 and will serve until November 2009.
