Summer might really be over, as temperatures today begin to cool down to a high near 67 degrees, compared to last Sunday’s 85 degrees.
Denver will see a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms this afternoon, with showers likely tonight. Temperatures will drop to a low of 45 degrees, with a 60 percent chance of overnight rain.
Monday will be similar, as temperatures stay in the 60s, with a 20 percent chance of isolated showers before noon. Monday night will get even cooler, with a low around 35 degrees.
Temperatures will pick up Tuesday, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will bring back a chance of rain to the area, with highs in the 60s again.
Denver has had a total of 8.35 inches of rain this year, 5 inches below the normal 13.36 inches for this time of year, according to Jim Kalina , a meteorologist and spokesman for the National Weather Service.
“We could use some precipitation,” Kalina said. “We may well be done with the 80-degree weather and it will be cooler, more fall-like.”
