Denver International Airport handled 4.8 million travelers in August, about 1.6 percent higher than the same month a year ago. It was the busiest August in the history of the Denver aviation system, but officials said DIA traffic will begin to decline as carriers reduce flights for their fall and winter schedule.
For the first eight months of 2008, DIA passenger traffic was up 3.9 percent from the same period last year.
