State flags are flying at half-staff today as services were held to honor the former chief of the Colorado State Patrol.
Retired Col. John Dempsey, 68, died last week after battling cancer for two years. He served in the State Patrol for more than 30 years and as chief from 1983 to 1995.
His funeral was today in Littleton, and last week Gov. Bill Ritter ordered Colorado flags at state buildings to fly at half-staff today.
