This season’s snow sports are a bit behind last year’s, but Colorado resorts are working to catch up.

Last year, Arapahoe Basin opened Oct. 10, the first ski and snowboard area to welcome guests. This year, A-Basin just started making snow Sunday.

Loveland Ski Area also started making snow last weekend, its website reported.

“We were able to blow snow on Saturday and Sunday,” the website said, “and the weather forecast is looking promising for the next week.”

At 11:30 p.m. Sunday, A-Basin fired up its snow guns, Leigh Hierholzer, director of marketing and communications said.
