BASALT — A man facing a first-degree murder charge in Oklahoma has been arrested in Basalt.
Authorities say 22-year-old John Richard Beato was arrested Wednesday after Basalt police were tipped to his whereabouts by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Beato is wanted in the August 2007 strangulation death of 25-year-old Antonio Flores. Police say Flores had been dead several days when his body was found in his Tulsa mobile home.
Tulsa authorities are expected to start extradition proceedings Police say Beato had been working for an electrician in Basalt, about 110 miles west of Denver, and was on his way home from work when he was arrested. They say he did not resist.
