DENVER—Storm systems sweeping into Colorado over the weekend are expected to bring high winds, cold temperatures, rain and snow.

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm and high-wind advisories for much of western and central Colorado. Up to 9 inches of snow could fall high in the southwestern and northern mountains. A storm system moving in from Nevada is expected to bring rain and snow to the northern and central Rockies.

Western Colorado is expected to be whipped by winds of 30 mph to 40 mph with possible gusts of 60 mph.

And the Denver area could see its first freeze of the season. High temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s and the lows will drop into the 20s and 30s.
