Bad news travels fast, but bad defenses are always good news.
Week 6 had a few surprises for three of the uglier defenses in the NFL. The Rams got the win despite giving up big numbers to Clinton Portis, the Broncos gave Maurice Jones-Drew owners a huge lift (although he remains a week-to-week gamble), and the Lions nearly won and didn’t give Adrian Peterson the gaudy numbers most expected.
Let’s see if the Rams and Lions can do it again.
Looking ahead to Week 7, you have to roll with Houston’s Steve Slaton as a heavy favorite at home against the Lions and Dallas’ Marion Barber on the road against the Rams. Portis should keep rolling against the Browns, but Peterson owners might be in for a third straight week of subsuper stats for the consensus No. 2 fantasy pick.
Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel is still available in most fantasy leagues, and he gets to throw on those Broncos. Tempting?
Dominic Rhodes could be a quick fix if Indy’s Joseph Addai is out this week.
