DENVER—A Utah man who pleaded guilty to luring a 12-year-old Colorado girl over the Internet to have sex faces more than 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

U.S. Attorney Troy Eid said Tuesday that 32-year-old Lennon Park of Salt Lake City pleaded guilty to using a computer with Internet access to entice a child. Park remains in federal custody and is to be sentenced Jan. 23.

According to the plea agreement, Park contacted the girl on the Internet in January 2004 and told her he wanted to meet her in Glenwood Springs to have sex.

“We hope that in all the bad that this man has done, some good will come from the fact that he will be locked away and not be able to harm another child,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge James Davis.

“The unthinkable happened: An Internet predator lured a 12-year-old into sexual intercourse,” Eid said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the victim and her entire family.”

The FBI, Glenwood Springs police, the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Utah’s West Valley City Police Department investigated the case.
