Denver police have set up a perimeter near West 43rd Avenue and Umatilla Street after an armed-robbery suspect jumped out of a window at his house and ran from police, authorities say.

Antonio Cerna, 22, who is wanted for robbery and burglary, escaped just after 8:30 a.m., when Denver officers went to a home to arrest him, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman.

Cerna is considered armed and dangerous, Jackson said. The U.S. Marshals Service is assisting in the search for the suspect in the area, west of the intersection of Interstates 25 and 70.

Officers were calling for dogs to help with the search. Numerous officers were on the scene.

Columbian Elementary School, 2925 W. 40th Ave., has been placed in lockdown while police search for the suspect in the neighborhood, said Lourdes Souss, spokeswoman for Denver Public Schools.
