OGDEN, Utah — Cameron Higgins threw for 413 yards and two touchdowns as Weber State defeated Northern Colorado 17-10 on Saturday.

The Wildcats (6-2, 4-0 Big Sky Conference) outgained the Bears 571-142, but struggled getting into the red zone. Higgins hit Tim Toone on an 18-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter, and a 40-yard field goal from Jon Williams gave Weber State a 10-0 lead at halftime.

Linebacker Cristian Sarmento led the Bears (1-5, 1-2 Big Sky) with 17 tackles — 10 in the first half when he had two sacks and a forced fumble. Northern Colorado forced four turnovers from Weber State, including two interceptions from Higgins, while turning the ball over just once.

Weber State extended its lead to 17-3 following a 27-yard TD reception by Cody Nakamura, who finished with seven catches for 93 yards, late in the third quarter.

The Bears got back in the game when Bryan Waggener hooked up with Jason Caprioli on a 5-yard scoring pass with 2:26 left in the game. Weber State’s Bryant Eteuati recovered the ensuing onside kick and the Wildcats ran out the clock.

Colorado Mines 23, Adams State 0

GOLDEN — The Orediggers got their ground game going in the second half to complement quarterback David Pesek’s big plays, and Mines (6-2, 5-1 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) used a solid defense in shutting down the Grizzlies (2-6, 2-4) at Brooks Field.

Mines led 3-0 at halftime, then took a 10-0 lead late in the third quarter on a J.T. Baum 5-yard run. Pesek threw fourth-quarter TDs to Tom Kastens (35 yards) and Keegen Moyer (7 yards). Kastens caught four passes for 104 yards. Pesek was 20-of-36 for 268 yards.

Chadron State 48, Fort Lewis 7

DURANGO — The Eagles (7-1, 6-0 RMAC) held Fort Lewis (2-6, 1-5) to six first downs and stayed unbeaten in the RMAC with a rout at Ray Dennison Stadium.

Isaac Stockton caught two first-half touchdown passes from Joe McCain, and Craig Kaiser returned an interception 23 yards for a score as Chadron led 38-0 at halftime.

CSU-Pueblo 21, New Mexico Highlands 14

PUEBLO — Bobby Washington threw two touchdowns, and Marco Macaluso returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown, all in the first half, as the Thunderwolves (3-4, 2-4 RMAC) ended a four-game losing streak.

Rhodes College 28, Colorado College 7

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — CC had its ground game going, rushing 56 times for 170 yards, but the only score for the Tigers (0-5, 0-4 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) came on a 96-yard fumble return by Shane Strom.
