DENVER—Sixteen Chase bank branches in Colorado and Oklahoma have reopened a day after receiving threatening letters, some that contained white powder.
Denver FBI spokeswoman Kathy Wright said Tuesday that preliminary tests show the powder isn’t harmful, but more tests will be done.
Eight banks in the Denver area and eight in the Oklahoma City area received the letters.
No injuries were reported. JP Morgan Chase & Co. spokeswoman Mary Jane Rogers says some employees, including a pregnant woman, were examined as a precaution.
Postal inspector JoJan Henderson says the letters appear to be related.
The text hasn’t been released. Gary Johnson, an FBI spokesman in Oklahoma, says the Oklahoma letters indicated the threat was “based on past actions of the bank.”
