Ninety-seven people made the difference.
Denver’s Race for the Cure event regained its title this year as the nation’s largest, the organization announced Tuesday.
The final total for participants in Denver’s Oct. 5 event was 64,094. That beat out St. Louis, which recorded 63,997 people.
St. Louis had the biggest of dozens of national events in 2007; Denver held the title in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure benefits not-for-profits providing breast health and breast-cancer education, screening and treatment programs, with a focus on underserved and uninsured individuals.
The Denver event estimates more than $2.5 million was raised this year, although final figures are not yet available.
