COLORADO SPRINGS — A former pastor at Lighthouse Baptist Church pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old parishioner and will likely serve no more than 60 days in jail.
Fifty-two-year-old Jon Moore of Colorado Springs pleaded guilty Thursday to sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, a crime that normally carries up to 12 years in prison.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Debbie Pearson said Friday the victim and her family agreed to the lenient sentence.
Police in an arrest affidavit said Moore admitted to beginning the assault in 2004 when the girl was 15, starting by fondling her and eventually having intercourse in the church basement after Sunday services. The assault last for about a year.
Sentencing is scheduled Dec. 15.
