DeVotchKa leads a mouth-watering list of local luminaries playing this weekend with their Friday-Saturday stint at the Boulder Theater. Tonight’s show with Bela Karoli and Paper Bird is sold out, but tickets for Saturday with the latter act and Dust on the Breakers are still available. $32.50.
Halloween concerts from Denver acts also include headliners Everything Absent or Distorted at the Oriental Theater, Widowers at the Larimer Lounge and the Photo Atlas at the Walnut Room. And don’t miss a rare Dia de los Muertos show from d. biddle at the Hi-Dive on Saturday. Various prices.
Beastie Boys and Tenacious D are one of the better double-bills to hit the Fillmore in some time, particularly if you like your hip-hop and metal, respectively, served with a steaming pile of humor. They’ll play a Rock the Vote-sponsored event there on Monday. $38.
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks have lately sounded more like a real band than a few hired hands backing a lone dude — a blessing for fans, considering Malkmus’ spotty post-Pavement offerings. Thursday at the Gothic Theatre with the buzzy Blitzen Trapper. $17.50.
