The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League are the last remaining undefeated team in the Northern Conference after they downed the host Bossier-Shreve port Mudbugs 3-2 on Thursday in Bossier City, La.
The Eagles (7-0-0) jumped to a 3-0 lead before the midpoint of the first period. Riley Nelson’s goal, his 13th point of the season, gave Colorado a 1-0 lead 1:14 into the game. Ryan Tobler and Konrad Reeder followed with goals soon after.
The Mudbugs (4-1-0) outshot the Eagles 21-4 in the third period and netted two goals.
The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (3-0-0) are the only other unbeaten team in the CHL.
Wyoming forward suspended.
Wyoming’s Tyson Johnson, a senior forward on the men’s basketball team, has been suspended for a practice and exhibition game. Coach Heath Schroyer says Johnson violated team rules but declined to provide any further details. Johnson will miss a practice game at Washington on Saturday and an exhibition game Nov. 8 in Laramie against Colorado School of Mines. He averaged 7.0 points and 3.8 rebounds a game last year.
