($21.95, Rutgers University Press) is for astronaut wannabes and travelers who like to make space museums and telescopes part of their regular trip itineraries. And just so that author Duane S. Nickell, a physics teacher in Indianapolis, doesn’t seem to be taking it all too seriously, he also includes a chapter titled “Aliens?” with narratives on, of course, Roswell, N.M., and Area 51 in Nevada, and he includes a thoughtful discussion of the possibilities. The rest of the chapters are just as interesting, with sections on American Indian sites devoted to astronomy, NASA, planetariums and space rocks. Nickell also offers up his top 10 out-of-this-world experiences, and at the end of the book indexes the sites by state. Kyle Wagner
