DENVER—Police arrested a man suspected in the shooting of a man found dead in a car in Denver’s Stapleton neighborhood.
Police say 21-year-old Quent Scaggs is being held in connection to the death of 19-year-old Aaron Garcia.
Denver police Lt. Ron Saunier says previous reports that the shooting stemmed from a carjacking are inaccurate. He says Garica, another man driving a Pontiac Grand Prix, and Scaggs were all acquainted with each other.
Police say Scaggs is suspected stealing the car and then shooting Garcia.
The shooting happened at about 8:35 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart Supercenter. The car’s driver called police to tell them his car was taken while his passenger was still inside. The driver was unhurt.
