DENVER—The union that represents dispatchers at Frontier Airlines has ratified a long-term contract with the company.
Members of the Transportation Workers Union of America and Denver-based Frontier Airlines said Friday that the agreement extends wage and benefit concessions of about 10 percent negotiated earlier this year when it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Frontier President and CEO Sean Menke says the agreement will help the airline attract investors and reduce costs.
Frontier spokeswoman Lindsey Purves said a bankruptcy judge Friday had ordered the airline and the Teamsters union to resume negotiations.
The Bankruptcy Court later granted Frontier relief in their collective bargaining agreement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The ruling will allow Frontier to furlough its heavy maintenance workers during periods that type of work is not needed, and recall the workers when necessary.
The carrier is the second-largest at Denver International Airport, employing more than 5,000 people.
