DENVER—A woman accused of starving her 3-year-old daughter to death has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Twenty-three-year-old Shaunee Hall pleaded guilty in September to child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury in the October 2007 death of Zianne (zye-ANN’). In exchange for the plea, prosecutors agreed to drop a first-degree murder charge.

She was sentenced Thursday.

Police say Zianne weighed less than 22 pounds when she was hospitalized suffering from malnutrition and dehydration.

Hall’s roomate and Zianne’s caretaker, 37-year-old Tina Houcks, faces several charges including first-degree murder.

Her trial is scheduled in December.
