The Broncos today signed three players to their 53-man roster: outside linebacker Mario Haggan, safety Roderick Rogers and running back P.J. Pope.

Rogers and Pope were signed from the team’s practice squad.

Haggan, 6-foot-3, 263 pounds, spent five seasons in Buffalo, playing in all 16 games each of the past four seasons.

Rogers played in Denver’s final two games last season after being signed from the practice squad.

The new players will help bolster positions that were hit by injuries in Sunday’s loss to Miami.

Outside linebacker D.J. Williams will be out four weeks with an MCL injury in his left knee. Free safety Marlon McCree will miss three weeks with a high ankle sprain. Running backs Michael Pittman and Andre Hall have been placed on the injured reserve.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Pittman has a spinal cord injury. Pittman will travel to California soon to meet with Dr. Robert Watkins, a spine specialist who also treated former Bronco John Lynch last season.

Hall broke a bone in his left hand during the Miami game.

The Broncos today also signed linebacker Tyson Smith and running back Cory Boyd to the practice squad.

Brandon Marshall heard what Dolphins’ linebacker Joey Porter said about him after Sunday’s 27-16 Miami win.

Porter called Marshall “soft” and said that he and other Dolphins’ defenders had gotten in Marshall’s head.

In response, Marshall said of Porter:

“He’s one of those guys that you know, no matter how big he is can get knocked on his butt. He’s soft, he’s soft at heart and you can tell by the way he’s talking.”
