DENVER—A ballot measure that would ban state affirmative action programs in Colorado is still too close to call.
With 91 percent of the projected vote counted on Wednesday, the measure was trailing by just 13,900 votes out of nearly 2 million cast, a margin of less than one-tenth of one percent.
Most of the uncounted votes are from Adams and Boulder counties. In Adams, the race is about even. Votes in Boulder are trending against the measure.
An estimated 20,000 provisional ballots were also cast statewide, and they could help determine such a close race as they’re counted in the coming days.
The measure says the state may not use race, color, sex, ethnicity or national origin to discriminate against or grant preferential treatment to individuals or groups.
