A Halloween party led to a melee after a group of uninvited young men were asked to leave, Denver police said.

Vince Boudrieu, 20, and two of his friends escorted the group of about six party crashers to the front yard at 1591 S. Raleigh St., where they were attacked and beaten, including with ball bats,

Boudrieu, a student at the Colorado School of Mines, sustained serious head injury, including swelling to his brain and other complications. He remains in critical condition at Denver Health Medical Center.

“I know he’s going to be able to walk out of there,” Boudriu’s mother, Leslie Newell, told 9News. “But brain damage I’m afraid of. I don’t know how long-term that’s going to be.”

Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said investigators don’t have a good description or leads to find the assailants. They have been described only as Hispanic between 17 and 19 years old.

“The victims didn’t know these people, and when the assault started, everyone at the party scattered,” he said. “Nobody saw where they went. At this point, we don’t know who these guys were.”

Denver Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward. Anyone with information can call 720-913-7867.
