A Metropolitan State College of Denver student has been getting a lot of calls on his cellphone over the past three days, and they are not from friends and family.

The calls are from voters in Broomfield who were sent a letter from the county clerk and recorder listing a fax number. The letter asks voters to fax a letter confirming their identification, allowing their mail-in ballot to count.

However, the fax number is incorrect. The real fax number is 303-438-6252. But the published number is actually Chris Stolz’s cellphone.

“I’ve been getting calls now, night and day. I’m guessing 15 or 16 total,” Stolz said.

He said he called the Broomfield Clerk and Recorder’s Office to correct the mistake. “But today (Tuesday), I got three more calls.”

The clerk’s office couldn’t be reached for comment.
