GREELEY, Colo.—Republican Rep. Marilyn Musgrave has lost her bid for a fourth term in Congress to Democratic businesswoman Betsy Markey.
With 79 percent of the projected vote counted, Markey led Musgrave by 56 percent to 44 percent.
Musgrave faced intense opposition in a sprawling district where Democrats have been making gains. Musgrave is a stalwart conservative and close ally of President Bush, though she worked in recent months to distance herself from the unpopular president.
