Edwards’ victory Sunday at Texas was his second straight, and it got him within 106 points of points leader Jimmie Johnson. Edwards made up 77 points, thanks partly because Johnson finished 15th. So the championship race isn’t dead after all. Edwards, who is tied with regular-season champion Kyle Busch with eight victories, is red-hot and Johnson is looking human. But just two races remain, and Edwards might have to win both to prevent Johnson from his record-tying third consecutive title.
