The Front Range Indian summer is expected to end today, with freezing temperatures and a 60 percent chance of scattered snow showers in the forecast.
Winter-storm warnings crept across the Rockies on Tuesday afternoon as a cold front pushed in from the Pacific Northwest.
Temperatures reached 68 degrees in Denver at noon Tuesday, but metro residents could awake to 30-degree temperatures and scattered snowfall this morning, according to the National Weather Service office in Boulder. Little or no accumulation is expected in the metro region, however.
Some in the high country could see up to 14 inches of accumulation. Travel over the Continental Divide today could be tough, with snow being blown by 45 mph gusts, according to the forecast. Winter-storm warnings are in place in the north and central mountains until 3 a.m. Thursday.
Temperatures in the metro region are expected to reach only the mid-40s today and Thursday but could rebound to near 60 degrees Friday, forecasters said.
