Kenny Wallace, right, driver of the No. 28 car in the Nationwide Series, tested Monday at PPIR, the partially reopened 1-mile oval in Fountain. Sprint Cup driver Robbie Gordon is tentatively schedule to test at PPIR today. So salt is being poured in the wounds. Colorado fans can’t watch the big boys race at PPIR, but the big boys are allowed to test at the state’s first superspeedway. PPIR’s new owners can host small-school events at the facility, but not sell more than 10,000 tickets for a sanctioned race. The deal stinks, and it all goes back to International Speedway Corp., which bought out PPIR to avoid competition before building its so-called Denver track, then sold the track with big-school restrictions. ISC should not be taken off the hook until it builds in Denver, and uses its own money to do it.
