DENVER—A Salida man who pleaded guilty to robbing two banks in the Denver metro area earlier this year has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.
A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced 28-year-old Patrick Alan McCuaig to 92 months behind bars. He had pleaded guilty to bank robbery charges in August.
Prosecutors say McCuaig handed a note to a U.S. Bank teller Jan. 15 indicating he had a gun and a bomb, and demanding money. He escaped with nearly $2,500.
Six days later, authorities say he used a similar note at a TCF Bank in Thornton and fled with some $4,500.
McCuaig and his girlfriend, 25-year-old Jessica Garrett, were arrested during a Jan. 24 standoff in Lakewood.
Garrett was sentenced in June to four years in prison for felony menacing.
