AUSTIN, Texas — Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison isn’t ready to say whether she will run for governor in 2010, but she said Thursday that she doesn’t think it would hurt Texas if she resigned from Congress before her term ends in 2012.
Hutchison, a Republican, noted that Texas’ junior senator, John Cornyn, has completed a term and would have seniority. The Republican won his second six-year term Tuesday.
Hutchison said she can’t announce any candidacy for governor because she hasn’t filed a campaign treasurer with the state but “It should be clear that I am looking at it.”
