OMAHA, Neb.—A Douglas County judge has ordered former Nebraska football player Thunder Collins to stand trial.
The 29-year-old Collins is facing first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and weapons charges.
His attorney says Collins is innocent.
Authorities say a dispute over a drug deal sparked a Sept. 23 shooting in midtown Omaha that claimed the life of 38-year-old Timothy Thomas and left 26-year-old Marshall Turner with critical injuries. Both men are from California.
Four others have also been charged in connection with the incident.
Collins played for the Cornhuskers from 2000 to 2002. He quit the team after being suspended four games for an undisclosed NCAA rules violation, and he has had a string of run-ins with the law since.
