War veterans sporting VFW caps joined Cub Scouts and car clubs this morning in the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Denver.
The grand marshal was Robert Hunter, president of the Denver United Veterans Council.
A tribute to veterans was held immediately after the parade in Civic Center. The tribute included a reading of the names of Iraq and Afghanistan war dead at the Colorado Veterans Monument.
Flags waved, bands played, kids collected candy and cheerleaders pranced along downtown streets.
The parade was organized by the city and county of Denver and the Denver United Veterans Council, Chapter 21.
The Veterans Day holiday is Tuesday. It is celebrated on Nov. 11, the day of the cease-fire between German and Allied forces in World War I.
