Shares of Intrepid Potash Inc. fell $4.08, nearly 21 percent, to $15.38 Wednesday after the Denver-based crop-nutrient producer reported third-quarter profit that trailed analysts’ estimates.
Intrepid’s net income rose to $49.7 million, or 66 cents a share, from $5.36 million, or 7 cents a share, a year earlier, as potash prices increased, the company said Tuesday in a statement. The average profit estimate of five analysts surveyed by Bloomberg was 73 cents.
