The Salvation Army in Colorado Springs announced this week that it will begin accepting credit cards at five of its red-kettle donation sites in El Paso County. Published reports say the credit-card donation is the first of its kind in the nation, in which the bell ringers will take an imprint of your card for whatever amount you choose to donate. “It’s a response to the way in which the public spends money — people are using cash less and plastic more,” Mike Smith, director of kettle development for the local Salvation Army chapter, told The Gazette in Colorado Springs.
